DESIGNED TO SURVIVE
ADVENT’s wide 9-speed chain and rugged design make it the most tolerant, durable 1x drivetrain on the market. In conditions where other derailleurs need adjustment and maintenance, ADVENT just keeps shifting.
But how much abuse can it handle?
We decided to find out.
Meet the Contenders
9 Speed Shifter
Challenge 1: Mud
When the conditions turn bad, mud and other contaminants can gum up your drivetrain and grind your ride to a halt. Let’s see how ADVENT handles that challenge.
The wide 9-speed chain and cassette shed mud like it’s nothing and shifting response is unaffected.
Challenge 2: Trail Debris
What’s worse than mud? Leaves, sticks, sand… let’s just say that you’re having a really adventurous ride and your drivetrain is absolutely covered in muck. Can ADVENT deal with that?
It takes longer for all the leaves, mud, and sand to work their way through the drivetrain, but ADVENT keeps shifting.
Challenge 3: Hammer
Sometimes you hit the trail, and sometimes the trail hits you. It’s important to know: how does ADVENT’s wide, 9-speed gear spacing hold up to high speed impacts?
Imagine doing this with a 12-speed derailleur.
ADVENT is far more tolerant of bad decisions than its upmarket competitors. In the real world, that can mean the difference between finishing your ride vs. going for an unplanned hike.
Plus, it hurts a lot less if you have to buy a new one.
OK, it’s pretty @#$%@ bent, but we’ll still give this one to ADVENT!
After all that, let’s hop on and see how it rides.
After the test ride, we went back to the shop to straighten everything out with professional tools. The derailleur is definitely permanently bent, but it still works great, and that’s the point: ADVENT keeps working even when everything isn’t perfect.
Some drivetrains are designed to be pretty — ADVENT is designed to survive.
